We are fortunate to live in the Durango, Colorado area. It has music (my wife and I have sung with the Durango Choral Society for over 40 years) and art and intellectual stimulation. Part of the reason that we chose to live here is the college. Fort Lewis College is not Harvard, but it offers an excellent liberal arts education and has a powerful program in engineering, among other disciplines.
One of the assets that we can boast about is our newspaper. The Durango Herald is over a century old but is also very modern. The Herald has won a Global Media Award from the Population Institute (as have I). I am very thankful to the Herald for publishing my column, Population Matters! It is the world’s only regularly appearing newspaper column focusing on human population.
